for special workshops or conferences related to osteoporosis,
treatment, bone density screening, nutrition, exercise and prevention

Osteoporosis Throughout the Lifecycle
A Continuing Education Course developed with funding from the
Arizona Osteoporosis Coalition in conjunction with the Arizona
Department of Nutritional Sciences and The University of Arizona
Center for Physical Activity and Nutrition. This course reviews
osteoporosis prevalence, medical costs, bone biology, risk factors
and strategies for osteoporosis prevention throughout the lifecycle.
Objectives include: understanding the basics of bone physiology;
review osteoporosis risk factors and the physical, psychological
and financial consequences of this disease; identify osteoporosis
screening tools; and recognize physical activity and nutritional
factors that influence bone health. It is available through
the UA Continuing Education and Academic
Outreach. The course is informational only and the cost is $50.

Developed by the University of Arizona and funded by the National
